Oscar Dewhurst – Bittern in flight

Oscar writes: I had been photographing a Bittern in the reeds for a few hours. I was having a quick look on the back of my camera at the image I’d just taken, and when I looked back the bird had moved right to the edge, obviously about to fly. Despite the early warning, as I was on the ground it was very hard to track it! Luckily I managed to get one sharp image of it.

  1. Unrelated to your blog post, but thought you might like to see some evidence of the blackbird I mentioned before who’s very excited about spring! We’ve heard little snippets of song from him (presumably it’s the same bird) since before Christmas, but this evening was his first really emphatic performance!

  2. Dislikes, what the … ? Who could possibly dislike a flying bittern or Oscar’s photo?? Answers on a postcard to We Forgot Our Manners.
