  1. In most countries that landscape would signify ecological carnage, but here in the UK it is given SSSI status!

    I visited the French Pyrenees/Northern Spain recently where apart from the very tallest mountains, land was generally covered in trees. It demonstrated clearly what a mess our own uplands are in.
