  1. If my calculations are correct and as the petition passes 75% of the goal of 100,000 signatures the time-line tonight will be 75.9%
So, and please correct me if i’m wrong, if we continue at the average rate we will pass 100,000. Since the ball seems to be accelerating, especially today, it looks like we could make this!

    1. On the ball Anand. I worked out the ‘steady pace’ (548 signatures per day/6 months) total for the end of today as 75890. As I write we are on 76015 (1781 signatures already today!) and have 5 1/2hrs in hand. Looking good!

    1. Yes, unfortunately, we fell foul of ‘the windiest summer’s day on record’ including a gust of 115mph at the summit so we had no option but to cancel. Apologies to anyone who didn’t get the message and ended up travelling to Cairn Gorm.

  2. 75264, crikey!

Cairngorm event cancelled due to night winds according to Twitter. A great shame.

    1. Great day at Edale! Inspiring speeches, like-minded people, good weather – just what the Hen Harrier doctor ordered. Trains passing by added to the atmosphere, even if speeches had to be suspended each time. I’m sure the ‘buzzing’ helicopter was from a grouse-shooting estate! Thanks to all involved. See you next year.

  3. Went to Cairngorm, as did quite a few other people, only to be told it was cancelled. Nobody seemed to know what was going on. A wee bit of wind, not unusual that high up at any time of year. We all mooched around for a bit then hit the cafes in Aviemore.

  4. Excellent day with a great turnout at Dunsop Bridge and on a grouse moor this afternoon. So sad that there hasn’t been a single breeding Hen Harrier or Peregrine breeding in the Forest of Bowland this year. Very many thanks to the North West Raptor Protection Group and everyone who contributed to today’s event, and for arranging the dry, if breezy, weather.

  5. You forgot the NE event at RSPB Saltholme! A great day attended by lots of people and Martin Harper from the RSPB.

  6. I now have a new hobby. It is more addictive than Pokemon and simply involves refreshing the screen to see how fast the petition is building. Incredible at the moment, possibly enhanced by Hen Harrier day but also I hope that the article in the Mail on Sunday and Ian Botham’s comments have resulted in extra signatures.

I couldn’t make any HH Day this year but can I congratulate all for the work and enthusiasm that has clearly been put in to these events.

  7. Playing the impartiality game with the BBC. I remember there was some discussion of a Countryfile program I had not seen. If Countryfile does a whitewash job on grouse shooting and misses out salient facts of its disadvantages one could bring a case against them like the countryside alliance has with Chris just the pubicity would be useful.

  8. Good turnout at Dunsop Bridge for a very well organised event. Revolution was in the air!
