  1. When thanking contributors, a special ‘thank you’ must go to Henry. I hope (s)he was a bit cooler at Edale than at Rainham and is enjoying a well deserved day off today.

    1. Lyn – thank you! Edale was a breeze – literally and metaphorically – compared with Rainham. Glad I can’t fit inside that outfit!

  2. I note that the GWCT’s ‘spin doctor*’ has been busy tweeting his aesthetic judgements on the Rainham Marshes visitor centre.

Ernest – yes it’s clearly a distraction display of some sort. ‘I can’t argue with you on the facts so I am going to criticise a building on an RSPB nature reserve instead because it makes me feel better about myself’. Very strange – perhaps particularly because that centre has won architectural awards. But it’s certainly not a stately home that’s for sure.
