A series of quotes relevant to the environment and/or campaigning.

This week’s quote is from Franklin Delano Roosevelt (died 1945).

A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people.

  1. Great quote, Can one see/hear Trump saying something like this, no way. Quite the opposite, as an eco-criminal it seems he would rather destroy our forests and soils.

  2. After FDR came Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump. In the last three years Trump is responsible for all the soil degradation and forest clearance in the USA since 1945, obviously.

Drax started burning USA forests in pelletised form by 2003. Dubya and Blur thought it was a good idea, but it’s Trump’s fault, obviously.

“Dirt – The Erosion of Civilisations” by David Montgomery is well worth a read. It’s a bit repetitive, and it’s not literature.
