Buy Birdwatch today

Buy Birdwatch today, or tomorrow, or soon, if you’d like to see my first monthly column as the ‘Political Birder‘.

I’ll be writing about those issues that affect the birds you see around you – and asking you to do something about them.

I see Birdwatch‘s website describes me as a ‘regular’ – I still feel like a new boy.

  1. I think you will find that most bird watchers are not interested in politics. Birds of Prey are a classic example. If they really cared for birds we would not have the problems we are having now of whole scale slaughter even next to RSPB reserves.

    1. John – that may be the case. But we don’t need most birdwatchers – some more would be good. And you’ll find that the Birdwatch column is fun, too. And you will like the second column – in a month’s time – and you should read it! But reading the first column by subscribing to Birdwatch online or scouring the shelves of WHSmith would be a good start too. More later….

  2. Errmmm…John…those words weren’t terribly encouraging, were they?! Wouldn’t want you standing anywhere near me if I was about to do a parachute jump (“I think you’ll find that you’ll die if your ripcord doesn’t work”). Good luck with the column, Mark, though I still think your byline should say, “Mark Avery – he ruffles feathers”.

I have read your first column in Birdwatch, perhaps a little mediochre. I would like to see a column a little more controversial, a little more educational and a little more proactive. A bit more research and high level content would be appreciated. I would like to see you expressing your true viewpoints without the restrictions that being employed by the RSPB has restricted your writings in the past
