Four weeks today

Four weeks today join Chris Packham and others at what is expected to be the biggest Hen Harrier Day rally yet – at the RSPB Rainham Marshes nature reserve.

We are expecting well over a thousand people to assemble to express their outrage at the state of the Hen Harrier population and to call for more action and this will signal the opening of the Hen Harrier weekend of events across the UK.

Although there is parking available at the site please travel by public transport if at all possible. C2C have done us proud and are laying on extra carriages on trains for the day and have scheduled longer stops at Purfleet Station (c12 minutes easy, signposted walk to the nature reserve).

More details here.

More details of other Hen Harrier Day events on 6 and 7 August here.

More details of Hen Harrier Day events as we get closer to the day.

Say hello to Chris Packham (and buy his best-selling new book), listen to RSPB Chief Exec Mike Clarke, meet Henry the Hen Harrier and hear from Charlie Moores of Birders Against Wildlife Crime – and you might see some birds too! And Water Voles!

It won’t be raining  – the RSPB has promised!

  1. How about breaking down the numbers coming to HH rally sites by the number of folk living in the area. No doubt the Mull rally will win hands down!!
    Mull Hen Harrer Day 2016
    Sunday 7th August
    10am-1pm
    Craingure Bunkhouse

Nature Scotland are providing hour long trips to look for local harriers at £5 per head plus…
hot drinks, home baking, raffle, silent auction and short talk!

We’re raising money to satellite tag a Mull bred hen harrier – where do they go, are they persecuted on the mainland with so many others? Any donations for the raffle or silent auction would be much appreciated, great to get local support!
