60,000

60000

60,000 is a big number! A really big number.

We now need fewer than four lots of 10,000 signatures to reach 100,000 by 20 September. That will be difficult – but not impossible. We are going for it!

So far, in July we have passed 13 ‘thousand milestones’.  How many more will we pass in dull old July before we get into really interesting August with Hen Harrier Day, the Inglorious 12th and the Bird Fair?

A week ago we were at 54,000.

Here are the leading constituencies over 200 signatures:

  1. Calder Valley Craig Whittaker 341 CON
  2. Ross, Skye and Lochaber Ian Blackford 250 SNP
  3. High Peak Andrew Bingham 238 CON
  4. Isle of Wight Mr Andrew Turner 233 CON
  5. Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey Drew Hendry 233 SNP
  6. Skipton and Ripon Julian Smith 225 CON
  7. North Norfolk Rt Hon Norman Lamb 218 LIBDEM
  8. Bristol West Thangam Debbonaire 216 LAB
  9. Derbyshire Dales Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin 211 CON
  10. Brighton, Pavilion Caroline Lucas 210 GREEN
  11. Westmorland and Lonsdale Tim Farron 203 LIBDEM

And here is a long list of newcomers to the ‘100 club’:

There are some interesting names in that list: the beast of Bolsover, the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, a former Defra minister and current grouse moor owner, the former First Minister of Scotland, the former boss of the Countryside Alliance and the former GWCT trustee who retweeted a Tweet calling Chris Packham a ‘nut-job’ and me a ‘truth-denier’.

Please sign our e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting.

  1. If more people had the opportunity to watch fabulous Hen Harriers they would all be fighting to sign up.

  2. Surely we can Paul….especially if everyone pulls their weight….eg by promoting the e-petition to friends/work mates (by email is effective) and also pushing the various HH Day events. At several of these leaflets urging people to sign up to the petition will be available to push through local letterboxes or to hand out later the same day even).

  3. All HH events would benefit from a facility to electronically sign up potential supporters on the spot.

    1. Nothing like seizing the moment, fully agree. I’m told you can do it via 4G but that stuff goes way over my head.
Hope the leaflets list all the species that are affected. Golden Eagles must be good for a few signers.

  4. Just posted this 33 view – no signatures because there is no obvious link to the petition???????
