Last chance to sign

lastdayOur winning e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting has its last day today! You won’t be able to sign the e-petition after midnight tonight (although you will be able to click on the confirmation email that you are sent when you do sign).

A late flurry of extra signatures would be nice, and for neatness it would be great to see the following constituencies edge over their thresholds – just for neatness!:

Stroud 399 signatures

Ludlow 299 signatures

Truro and Falmouth 298 signatures

North Ayrshire and Arran 199 signatures

Torbay 198 signatures

    1. jbc – aren’t round numbers odd? Or isn’t our desire for them odd? I’ve noticed this about myself. 123000 would be more staisfying than 122999 or even 123001, I agree.

But I would be surprised if we get there – I think we are strolling to the winning line – but then, we deserve to enjoy the view as we get there.

      1. “I think we are strolling to the winning line”

Oh dear – I swear you are doing a Leadsom!

  1. If we get to 122,900 then England should have reached 100,000.

All the named constituencies have edged to or past the round number except Torbay.
Bristol East is on 299, Camborne and Redruth on 249. Mid Bedfordshire is on 199, with South West Devon on 198, alongside Torbay.

      1. Thanks Mark, you are the star round here.

But also… we have a late run and when the total was on 122,927, the England total was 100,027. That’s great! It’s perhaps quite a narrow political point – I’ve never really understood the supposedly undermining argument (regarding a petition) that ‘it’s a devolved matter’. Even so, 100,000 signatures in England is still brilliant, it defeats the naysayers and is especially important because of the particularly precarious position of the hen harrier in England.

  2. I would like one more signature in Dumfries and Galloway, 331 and it would be a nice bright orange when I visit in a few days.

    1. Lynn – that would be good, wouldn’t it? But, as you know, they might change the scale and the shading of the map at any time!

  3. So close! 3.5 hours to go and 64 signatures needed……I may have to stay up until midnight!

  4. 123 000 what an excellent total to reach before the midnight deadline, though I know it’s a very long road ahead ! Mark and Everybody involved with this Petition to Ban Driven Grouse Shooting a MASSIVE THANKS, THIS IS A MOMENTOUS OCCASION ! TIME TO BREAK OPEN THE BOWLAND BREWERY’S FINEST HEN HARRIER BEER,VERY WELL DONE TO ALL.

  5. I’m still hoping for 123,456 – but probably forlornly.
But hey, what a good result anyway. Hats off to Mark and everyone who helped.
