Gilruth/Gregory – mostly ignored but an RSPB response.

Following this morning’s blog about the depths to which GWCT have slipped, I can’t find much coverage of the said press release (hardly surprising is it?). Have you spotted any?

There is this one article which more or less republished the original press release and a feisty quote from Martin Harper…

This is another sadly predictable attempt to deflect attention from the real reason for the decline of the hen harrier, continuing illegal persecution.

The sooner GWCT and others in the shooting industry stop turning a blind eye and help address these crimes, the sooner this magnificent bird can return to its breeding sites across the uplands of the UK.

Well said!

Martin, you could have added Defra to that comment too, but I can see why you didn’t.

  1. Yes very well said Martin.
I think-this sort of rather snide comment from the GWCT really reflects more on them than anyone else ,

  2. Well said, Martin. RSPB could benefit from more hard hitting comment in response to a lot of the snide insinuation from the shooting lobby. RSPB doesn’t always ‘get it right’ on every issue but at least we know it doesn’t have a hidden agenda, unlike many of its detractors.
