The Walshaw Moor Estate has withdrawn its clearly flawed planning proposal for a new track across Walshaw Moor. This brings to an end the latest chapter of this long-running story in which this blog has played its part.

Not so long ago, I believe that the estate would have found it easy to prevent such an article appearing in the local newspaper, or might not even have needed to do anything to prevent publication. The writing is on the wall, in part thanks to Mark, but all the groups who are active still need to keep up the pressure. One day our government agencies will follow the lead of this local newspaper and not show unwarranted allegiance to large landowners.
Well done to the Burnley Gazette for straight reporting,as you say Alex times are changing. Ban Bloodsports have certainly been effective in getting members of the public informed as to what is really happening on Grouse Moors.People are going up and seeing it for themselves and many are extremely unhappy about it.
