Badger petition update (1)

We’re still on the second day, in fact we are nowhere near 36 hours into this petition yet, and we are heading towards 20,000 signatures. Thanks to all who have signed.

Every Westminster parliamentary constituency has recorded a signature; the last three were South Antrim, Wolverhampton South East and, as usual, Barking.

The constituencies with over 100 signatures already are a select group:

Derbyshire Dales, Sarah Dines MP, 156 signatures

High Peak, Robert Largan MP, 147 signatures

Sheffield Hallam, Olivia Blake MP, 110 signatures

West Dorset, Chris Loder MP, 103 signatures

All held by new MPs.

  1. Interesting that so many of the highest signing areas are in rural areas. Gives the lie to the trope that only ‘townies’ object to the indiscriminate slaughter of wildlife.

  2. Let’s hope those constituency signatories write to their new Conservative (in the main) MPs and raise the issue with them.

New MPs need to hear from their constituents and they need to demonstrate a willingness to raise matters with Ministers, Defra or other appropriate authorities.

Life continues despite the chaos and confusion wrought by the pandemic. Take care all.
