GWCT seriously strapped for cash – they say

In their recent evasive blog the GWCT say that I once wrote that I ‘was hoping the GWCT might soon be going bust‘. Wrong again, I didn’t write any such thing (have a look) indeed my blog started with the words ‘Wouldn’t it be terrible if the GWCT went bust?’ which has the opposite meaning, but then, GWCT is a bit poor on comprehension tests these days.

But I was pleased to see that GWCT say that their members have rushed to their aid and give the impression that there is no financial crisis down at Fordingbridge. There probably isn’t they are just trying to look poor. So imagine my surprise when today I get round to reading the latest GWCT newsletter which says, amongst other less interesting things;

URGENT: please help us in our hour of need
We experienced a £1.4m shortfall in our income last year and with these difficult times set to continue we urgently need your help. Please give what you can

So everything’s fine except GWCT urgently, sorry URGENTLY, needs more money.

  1. Can’t get too worried about the financial state of GWCT. They are basically a “shooters of our wildlife for fun” organisation.so I am afraid I can’t spare even a penny. Their financial difficulties may indicate that other shooter organisations could have similar financial shortfalls. I do very much hope so..

  2. Stop being an utter dipstick will you? This is people’s livelihood you are gloatingly writing about at a time where the whole country is under serious economical pressure. I expect it’s pretty good for you sat typing away in your back bedroom with a pint of Boddington’s, checking the 2:30 at Doncaster knowing your monthly pension is secure. I would suggest that it’s you that is seriously lacking in comprehension – on the plight, which many families are now facing. Only an idiot would not understand the meaning of your idiotic implication of your phrase “wouldn’t it be terrible etc.” And if you want a candidate for looking poor – try the RSPB.

    1. And did you feel the same for the coal miners or steel workers or all those recently unemployed workers from Arcadia or other high street retailers? If not why not? Personally There are folk at GWCT I’d feel sorry for and an awful lot I would not.

    2. Thomas – I take it that by ‘Stop being an utter dipstick’ you really meant that I was being ‘a wonderfully caring and astute commentator’ since you feel that words should be read to mean the opposite of what they actually say.
