  1. Nope, and here is why. “lets send a message..blah,blah,blah” well it seems the message wasn’t quite understood by those taking part. During “earthhour” it was trending just below ant and dec on twitter, so not only was the vast majority of the UK watching a TV programme they were tweeting about it (message missed a target there then), but those taking part seem to be using computers to tweet and upload images of “lights etc being out”, now someone did tweet me saying “laptop battery”, fair enough, but what sort of battery is powering those computers and cameras, two choices Lithium or Nickel very “earth friendly”. Nevermind the energy used to charge them up in the first place. Not only that but people were driving out in their cars to take the images….so if I was a politician what message would I receive or think, perhaps hypocrits…maybe that’s a bit strong. Whats the point in sending a message to politicians, there isn’t that many of them compared to the mass popluation of this planet and it’s the mass public that need a message sent, once they have received the message then the politicians will/might sit up and listen.
Look at our home county of Northants Mark, the council in a bid to save money switched off approximately half of the street lights and the ones remaining are slowly be changing to more energy efficent lamps, did they get applauded from conservationist, no, what they got and local MP’s and local newspapers got was a mail bag full of complaints from Joe Public moaning “it’s too dark” “I don’t feel safe walking the street” etc etc etc.
On a more jovial note Coventry City have been kicked out of the Ricoh stadium today and could be going to the Diamonds old ground!!!
