Don’t forget…?

Mark writes: I’ll be doing the Big Garden Birdwatch on Sunday – probably while listening to Desert Island Discs, drinking tea and eating a Digestive Biscuit or two.

The garden has been quite bird-filled recently with occasional Reed Buntings as well as the more usual Starlings, Blue and Great Tits, Robin, Blackbirds, House Sparrows, Chaffinches, Greenfinches, Collared Doves and Wood Pigeons. There was also a Blackcap in the New Year.

But will any of them turn up on Sunday morning when I am specifically looking out for them?

I wonder…

Yesterday I had the type of sighting that I would relish in Big Garden Birdwatch. I was on the phone and looking out the bedroom window when a Peregrine flew up the street in front of me and over my house – almost at my eye level. Fantastic!

A few minutes later I was still on the phone and still looking out the window when a Peregrine flew past, high up, presumably the same bird, carrying something and heading to the church spire.

  1. I am hoping the Grey Wagtail pops in to the garden again over the weekend, but I am not sue when I will fit my hour in yet. I am doing Hen Harrier awareness work all Sunday afternoon at Parkgate with the RSPB if anyone wants to come along and see a Hen Harrier, especially with the high tide flushing out a possible snack for them.
