Another mini-milestone

Our e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting has passed another small milestone today when it reached, and passed, 27,399 signatures. Why? Because last year, in a longer period of time (almost twice as long) a similar e-petition reached 22,399 signatures so we have exceeded that by a round 5,000 signatures and the signature count keeps rising.

A lot of you have posted your guesses as to the final number of signatures which will be attached to this e-petition when it closes on 21 January (16 days away) and if you would liker to have a guess then follow this link and you might win a book if you are closest, or two books if you are exactly right.

But in any case, please sign this e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting.

  1. Hello Mark
Fascinating stuff about Walshaw Moor. You probably have a tame statistician lurking somewhere out in the ether? But, isn’t 5 out of 13 significantly different from 2 out of 56? Fisher’s Exact Test – or something like?

  2. Wouldn’t number of signatures go up rapidly if only all those people flooded and in danger of flooding because of driven grouse shooting could be given the chance to sign.
My guess is they have no knowledge of the petition.
