The EU executive has urged Poland to halt logging immediately in one of Europe’s last remaining areas of primeval forest, and has asked the European Court of Justice to act on it.’ reports the BBC.  See also Guardian, Birdlife International.

This is good news.

Of course, it’s not the sort of thing that will be possible in the UK post-Brexit. If, just imagine it, we had a government of any political party that didn’t give a monkey’s about the environment then…where would we go? What would we do?

The Brexit Repeal Bill published today says, among many other things that I have not read (thank to Miles King for pointing this out) this:

I’m no lawyer, but that suggests that we can start again in deciding what the EU Directives, that will remain in force until we change them, actually mean. But I’m no lawyer.

  1. I had the privilege to walk alone into this forest. A ‘cathedral’ of trees and wildlife. The sound of nature not chainsaws!
