How is it going? The leading constituencies

Gavin Gamble’s e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting is within 500 signatures of triggering a response from Defra – that will mark a valuable milestone. It seems to have been around for ages but it’s only three weeks!

Here are the leading constituencies so far – many of them are old friends (these all have over 50 signatures):

  1. Inverness, Badenoch and Strathspey, Drew Hendry MP, 74 signatures
  2. Ross, Skye and Lochaber, Ian Blackford MP, 60 signatures
  3. Thirsk and Malton, Kevin Hollinrake MP, 60 signatures
  4. Sheffield Hallam, Jared O’Mara, 58 signatures
  5. Dumfries and Galloway, Alister Jack MP, 57 signatures
  6. Calder Valley, Craig Whittaker, 57 signatures
  7. Skipton and Ripon, Julian Smith MP, 55 signatures

All of these just happen to be constituencies from grouse shooting areas.

  1. Minor correction, Mark. Sheffield Hallam’s MP is Jared O’Mara.

Also, I think any future ‘leading constituencies’ lists should run from number 1 through to 12 (or to whatever number Sheffield Central happens to be sat at! Nearest driven grouse moor 3.2 miles/5.2 km away, nearest Red Grouse, on long ex-grouse moor, 2.8 miles/4.5 km).

    1. Jim – thank you. Get a few more mates signed up and Sheffield Central will soon be over that 50 signatures hurdle!

      1. Working on it, Mark, don’t doubt it! Who can say what the future holds but the level of militancy that the tree felling fiasco has provoked in Sheffield may have some intriguing consequences when attention turns full beam to that other major ecological scandal locally; driven grouse shooting.
