An amazing response – thank you

Starting a crowd funding campaign is a little like throwing a party – when you start, you imagine what great fun it will be and how everyone will want to come. Then as the time approaches you begin to wonder whether it is going to be such a success and as the hour draws near you wonder whether anyone will turn up at all.  Well, you have turned up in numbers (357 of you so far) to support legal action against brood management of Hen Harriers. If Hen Harriers knew what was happening they would thank you!

I left home yesterday morning at 10am, and even at that time, just three hours into the party, it was clear that people were flocking to support Hen Harriers.  I was in London through the day and pretty tied up with meetings and work, but I was able to check on the party now and again and it was thrilling to see the totals rising.  By bed time the pledges had passed £10,000. I wish I could thank each of you individually but I don’t get those details so this is a collective thank you to all who have come to the party.

And it was something of a relief too, since today I am heading to the offices of our solicitors (because you are helping to pay them), Leigh Day, to sign some papers.

Thank you so much for your support.  There is a long way to go to our eventual target of £25k but what a fantastic start!

Let’s see what today brings – there undoubtedly will be some people who missed the news that the party was starting yesterday and will join in today.

  1. Thanks to you Mark and Raptor Persecution UK for keeping the fight going to protect Hen Harriers!

  2. If the grouse shooting industry thought that last years Westminster debate débâcle was the end of the campaign to ban driven grouse they couldn’t have been more wrong. That was only the beginning and though it may take a little time,(a little longer if the RSPB keep turning the other cheek and drag their feet), it is demise is certain. A hobby practised by a privallaged few and managed by professional criminals is doomed.

  3. I reckon we will hit £25k no trouble. This fight means so much to all of us, especially the Birds.

  4. I quite enjoy getting the thumbs downs from the Jack Hargreaves fan club. It means they’re rattled.

  5. I liked Jack Hargreaves, he was good on “Magpie”, and I’ve got his “Out of Town” videos.

    1. Jack Hargreaves fan club? Didn’t know there was one and are they batting for the other side?
He was great, I was only telling my wife about Out Of Town the other day with the gulls behind the tractor ploughing the field at the start and ‘HOW’ with the Indian drums! Sitting in his tool shed making things – she thought that image sounded a bit like me 🙂

Anyway great party you’ve started Mark, I will be joining it soon! – “WeWillWin”

  6. Mark, I take it an audited detailed account of how the total money raised is spent, will be made available?

    1. James – how nice to see you back here after a couple of months’ break with your cheery outlook and positive and supportive comments.

Would you like me to say ‘I thought we might spend it all boozing in the pub’ ?? That would be difficult given that the money goes from Crowd Justice to the lawyers.

How much were you thinking of donating?

      1. I thought it a perfectly reasonable question to ask considering the amount of donations requested, plus some 7% of the total raised goes to Legal Crowdfunding!

Will I be donating? Why on earth would I wish to contribute to a campaign based upon your say so and a very weak newspaper article?

        1. Perhaps we could be privy to an “audited detailed account ” of where all the tax-payers money, ponced by the DGS landlords, ends up?

          1. Coop – the trouble with eco-zealots like you is that you don’t know your place!

      2. I’d be happy if Mark and a few friends spent my small contribution “down the pub”. No doubt they would solve the brood meddling and Brexit conundrums at the same time!

ps who is Jack Hargreaves, would he come to the party?

  7. Now we’re nearly there – just a few hundred left to find so the target should be reached by the weekend!
    Great all round effort!
    Nick
