Jeremy Deller says ‘Ban driven grouse shooting’

Jeremy Deller, artist, says:

I support a ban of driven grouse shooting. I’ve never seen a Hen Harrier but I’d very much like to – why should wildlife crime continue in our National Parks and beautiful upland areas? And intensive moorland management damages peatlands which store carbon, reduce floods and provide clean water. Why do we let grouse shooting damage the hills?  It’s crazy!

To join Jeremy Deller, please sign Gavin Gamble’s e-petition which calls for a ban on driven grouse shooting.

  1. Bear baiting, cock fighting, badger baiting, pursuits of the poor, all outlawed and the world went on, but Grouse shooting, a frolic of the bulging rich, buys immunity from the law through the (not so straightforward) lobby system with a few sweeteners along the way.

  2. Whilst I agree with your sentiment LL sadly badger digging continues & given Defra’s ongoing roll out of the badger cull Michael Gove is sending a message to the diggers that it’s ok to continue because they are peddled as the cause of bovine (yes, bovine) TB?

Step up Mr Gove, we’re waiting for you to address the more ‘difficult’ issues like illegal raptor persecution, badger cull, trail hunts etc.
