A 2-month spring break is coming soon

It is too late in the year to be regarded as hibernation, and possibly too early to be aestivation, and vernalization means something else entirely, so I’m not sure what to call it.  However, this blog will be undergoing a 2-month period of semi-torpor from 4 May – 4 July.

I am travelling, coming and going, a lot in that period and I’ll be out of touch of news from the UK for a lot of the time too, so I’ve decided to have a proper break from blogging for a long chunk of time. It will be the first significant break since this blog sprang into life in April 2011 – yes ‘our’ seventh birthday is approaching.  It won’t do me any harm and it probably won’t do you any either! And some people will be pleased to see the back of me – but I’ll be back!

But in any case, it won’t be a complete break as I have lined up some blogs by me, some guest blogs, some great images and some book reviews to fill some of the slots. And I probably won’t be able to resist writing some blogs now and again anyway. So, semi-torpor.

If you’d like to write a guest blog to appear here while I am away then you have a couple of weeks or so to write it and send it in – here are some guidelines.

I will remind you nearer the time, but while I am travelling might be a good time to sign up to getting an automatic notification when a post is published here as they will be unpredictable and scarce through May and June (and you can always cancel the notifications when I spring back into regular blogging in early July).  I’ll remind you nearer the time but it’s the box labelled ‘Subscribe’ on the top right hand side of the page (below ‘Search’ and above my Tweets):

  1. If its nearly seven years then surely a well earned sabbatical is the best description. Either way, I’m looking forward to reading tales of derring-do in far off lands.

I hope you enjoy your semi-torpor.

  2. A deserved rest for an exceptional blogger. My morning fix will be impossible to replace but have a good break.

  3. A break is well deserved I would say.
Enjoy your travels and find a few weeks of P&Q.
    Best wishes.
