Famous Grouse advert

Here’s the Famous Grouse advert for 2019

Two species of grouse for the price of one. But what is that strange noise made by the Blackcock at the end of the advert? I know they make many strange noises but this one seems to be impersonating a Tawny Owl or maybe even a Lapwing… What do you think?

  1. That is weird! Seems to fall rather flat! It appears to be turning into a Werecock, but instead of a ‘roar’, yes, a Tawny Owl ‘squeaks’! Were they intending that to sound like a mouse?

  2. Definitely a Tawny Owl, but who cares, as this has to be my favourite blended scotch and comfortably in my budget!! In previous years packaging referred to each sale of Smoky Black raising a sum for grouse conservation ,but the newest incarnation does not refer to that any more. A shame, but it was never my main reason for buying it!!

  3. Typical marketing …. lacking in scientific or factual merit?

Reminds me of the political auctions at the moment – does anyone believe the silly figures bandied about and where’s the science to underpin targeted tree planting;)

PS Tawny for me, but did ponder if it was deliberate & the meaning behind the use of it had eluded me ….

    1. Errrm it’s a joke obviously one that flew over many heads, life is too short ladies & gentlemen. A long running theme by the brand…Tawny Owl too.
