No change at DEFRA

It could almost be the dead hand of Therese Coffey living on…

It is, of course, wonderful that Rebecca Pow is the Species Champion for the Snipe (because of the Somerset Levels population in her constituency) but she is also a block on progress on raptor persecution and is the Minister in charge of Badger culling – so not much of a species champion really. Why is it that Conservative DEFRA ministers are associated with killing wildlife rather than conserving it? Let’s get Labour back please.

Taunton Deane is a LibDem target seat and if I lived there, as a Labour supporter (though no longer member), I would be voting LibDem.

  1. I am sure your question as to why Conservative Ministers are always concerned with killing wildlife is rhetorical Mark as I am sure you know the answer really. It is because of the horrible vested interests of their Party. They are a very right wing nasty lot. ( that is why they are often called the “Nasty Party”). They have no Ministers and that includes BJ, of any stature like John Major.
The out look, at least in England, is petty depressing at present. I am sorry to say it but Mr Corbyn is and has been very disappointing and has failed to galvanise the centre and centre left in politics and left the field open for Johnson.
I too will be voting Lib Dem or possibly Green. Let’s hope for a miracle in a fortnights time.

  2. Perhaps it would help if the Somerset Wildlife Trust dissociated itself from this lady. Not so long ago she was invited to become a vice-president but has since stepped down after public pressure. However, I understand that the prime initiator of the original invitation remains the Trust’s president.

  3. I strongly suspect that there will be no change in policy towards DGS unless and until there is a change in government. The nasty party indeed, always have conned the electorate into voting for them when all they are interested in is keeping the status quo. They represent the narrow interests of the rich, very rich and aristos yet an awful lots of us are persuaded to vote for them each election. I have always failed to understand this but then I’ve never voted for them ever. This lot in particular are as described by Aneurin Bevan in I think 1954 ( they do not change)—— Vermin.

    1. Not quite Paul! Bevan said – ‘No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party. So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin’ – the quote is on my coffee mug! Lower than vermin they are -especially the present lot!

  4. If you want to see a ‘Nasty’ labour politician, see min 6.44 in the video at the link below. [Mark writes: I’ve deleted the rest of this comment. It really isn’t relevant to this post]
