Long term readers of this blog, which has been running for 15+ years, may remember Filbert Cobb (not his real name) who often commented on posts here (with wit) and also wrote four guest blogs.
I heard from his partner last week that Filbert passed away in early September, and that he is being laid to rest today. With her permission I am posting this little tribute to someone whom I never met, would not have recognised in the street, but who made a strongly favourable impression on me through his written comments and those few blogs.
Today Filbert will be transported to his final resting place, a natural woodland burial ground, in a Land Rover Defender hearse with a driver dressed in country garb rather than formal black, and laid to rest in a hopsack wool shroud on a willow carrier, with a blues guitarist singing him into the ground playing Filbert’s favourite guitar.
Two of the blogs he wrote for this site, ‘The Sunken Garden‘ and ‘Remember not to forget‘ will be read as his eulogy as they represent him so well. All four of his guest blogs can be found by clicking here and scrolling down to ‘Cobb’.
RIP Filbert Cobb.
