Our e-petition to ask government to ban driven grouse shooting received 33,615 signatures (and it is still going up slowly as people click on their confirmation emails). I think that is pretty good and certainly represents considerable progress on last year. I’d like to thank everyone who helped – but I can’t name everyone here…

The ‘100 club’
Our e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting closed at midnight on Thursday and now, with most people who signed before midnight having clicked on the confirmation email, it has reached a total of 33,614 signatures; rather satisfyingly, exactly 50% more than last year’s similar e-petition. Without any practical support from our large wildlife NGOs, we…
33,575 (and counting)
33,575* Thank you to the 33,574 of you who also signed my (our) e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting. This sends a message to government and the grouse shooting industry that things need to change. You have sent a strong message to wildlife NGOs that there is huge popular support for a much more…
Two days to go
Just two days to go before our e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting closes at midnight on Thursday. After that I’ll write about something else, here, for a while! But it’s clear that this campaign is going out with a bang and not a whimper. Yesterday we added 700 signatures which if we maintained that…
That was another milestone
22,399 was the total of signatures we achieved last year on an e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting – I thought that was pretty good in the ten months that were allowed for it. That was over 2000 signatures a month – c75 a day – not bad at all, I thought. Today, our similar…
32,000!
Wow! That surprised me. Our e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting, which will close at midnight on Thursday (so only three days left to get your friends to sign) raced past 32,000 signatures at 22:32 last night. And it was racing along. Makes me wonder whether 35,000 might be possible – probably not, I…
31,000 signatures!
Thank you! Please keep tweeting on Twitter and sharing on Facebook. The Ban Driven Grouse Shooting Facebook page is clearly helping to boost signatures in these last few days. Just today, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and at least part of Thursday to go! If you had a guess at how many signatures our e-petition to ban…
Thank you Wales
Considering that our e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting is aimed at the Westminster government and refers to England, I am touched that it has 1300+ signatures from the people of Wales, the land of my mother (not my fathers). All UK residents are entitled to sign the e-petition and so I’d like to encourage…
29,000 and counting!
Our e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting has just moved past the 29,000 signature barrier. I’m very hopeful that in the 10 days up to and including (at least some of) 21 January, we will pass 30,000 too. There are now 16 constituencies where more than 100 people have signed to ban driven grouse shooting….
Where do you stand with 12 days to go?
If you had a guess at how many signatures our e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting will achieve before it closes on 21 January then your name should be on this list. If your name is in red, then I’m afraid events have already passed you by – but thank you for being a sport…
