Earlier today SNH issued a statement and published their own Scientific Advisory Committee’s views on the value of SNH’s highly controversial licensing of a Raven cull in the Strathbraan area. Reading the SNH statement you might get the impression that the SAC did have some serious doubts about the project that SNH had licensed but…

NEWS: SNH admit Raven cull error – but fail to apologise for it
This was issued this morning by SNH – it represents a significant victory for the challenge by the Scottish Raptor Study Group, led by Ruth Tingay, to the legality of the licence to cull Ravens issued by SNH. See also the report by the Scientific Advisory Committee. I’ll come back to this later today….
Bowland Gull cull 13 – NE promises a response
In response to my recent questions about the Bowland gull cull of 2017 I have now received this:
Bowland Gull Cull 12 – I keep asking
Dear Natural England, In November 2017 you told me that the investigation of the gull cull in Bowland was entering its final stages and that you would answer my questions (of mid July 2017 and subsequently) ‘once the investigation is concluded’. Raven crowdfunder launched – please support
In a bold but sensible move, Ruth Tingay and the Scottish Raptor Study Group are seeking leave for a judicial review of SNH’s careless and foolish licensing of a Raven cull in Scotland. Please support it with your dosh – I have.
Open letter to Andrew Sells
Dear Andrew I hope you are well but I fear that the organisation of which you are the Chair, is gravely sick. Natural England seems to have caught a disease whose symptoms are an inability to work for nature conservation in the uplands but instead to align itself with one small sectional interest, grouse shooting,…
Wuthering Moors 66 – Natural England you have lost the trust of the public
Nobody really trusts politicians these days (which personally I think is sad because there are some good ones out there) but until recently we have trusted government agencies. In nature conservation, in the olden days, some of the greatest nature conservationists of their time, of any time, worked in and led the statutory agencies –…
