Saturday 3

I have a column in Wild Travel magazine which is a new magazine about travel and wildlife.  The second issue is now out and my column takes a look at the wonders of animal migration.

Wild Travel comes out six times a year and is now priced at £3.99.  I bought my copy in WHSmith.

The current issue discusses two species that are on my bucket list – Spanish lynx and killer whales (or orcas).

Spanish lynx sounds slightly easier to see than I had thought and I am even now wondering whether to make the trip to Spain (at a time of year that I wouldn’t have guessed before reading the article).

Killer whale would be top of my list of species to see.

You do know what day it is, don’t you?

  1. Hi Mark, I brought my first copy of the above magazine yesterday, it was the only one in the book shop. On the radio this morning they said an Orca mother and her calf are in Wellington harbour this morning. Dolphins and whales often come in to the harbour to shelter / rest. I hope I get to see this one. I have been up close to a pod of Orca’s years ago in the Marlborough Sounds ,New Zealand which was exciting. We had a large sting ray in a lagoon at porirua for ages until it finally found it’s way out again. Fantastic for us humans to see.
I am trying to teach myself wildlife art over the next two years –I can paint to a certain standard but want to be really good to earn a living and hopefully be in a position to donate paintings towards conservation of various endangered species. I’m kicking myself I didn’t do this when I was in my early twenties before I got to ill, but hopefully things work out for me the next two years and I can do something positive for the animals. Great magazine, I never knew manatee were endangered. Looking forward to reading the rest of the magazine and your column. Beautiful photos throughout the magazine too, I hope it does well.
