I’m no saint…

…although that was my Mum’s maiden name, so it was closer than you might think.

Today is St Mark’s Day.

This is the day when you might see some St Mark’s Flies.  They are big hairy things that are a bit annoying.

But there are no flies on me.

  1. Well they aren’t annoying to the hobbies that arrive on the Somerset Levels in April! They are often their major food until the dragonflies become available.

  2. aka Hawthorn Fly. Good for trout at Chew Valley. Black wool and hen hackle and some dangly legs of melanistic Gooney tail feather fibres tied with knots in them.
