Do you remember this ivy in my garden? I never did get around to cutting any of it.
Now it has a pair of Blackbirds nesting in it. That’s nice!
And there is a pair of Blue Tits taking moss and feathers into the RSPB nestbox which is a new feature of the garden too – I guess they think it’s nature’s home.
It’s all very exciting and a little distracting.

A pair of magpies have been pruning our hawthorn tree for us today, taking off the bendy fresh twigs for their nest.
My blackbird is brooding for the second time this year in her nest in the ivy. She sings gently to her nestlings if it is very windy. I have sparrows in the ivy on the other side of the garden.
I’m envious, we don’t get sparrows any more.
Lyn – awww!
That “nature’s home” phrase is working – well with my eight-year-old grandson anyway. His grandma (me) pays for him to be a member of the RSPB and hence he gets a regular magazine (aimed at his age group). He was with me in my garden last week and saw something which was potentially damaging to the interests of wildlife. He said it was harming “nature’s home” – and he didn’t approve! He can only have picked that up from the magazine.
That Ivy bush looks like it is heaven sent for moths. Pleased you haven’t got around to cutting it.
