…the results of the vote for a national bird – on BBC2 at 9pm.
Will Henry the Hen Harrier win? I would somehow doubt it! Getting into the final ten is quite an achievement for a lovelorn six-foot Hen Harrier. If the Hen Harrier comes higher than tenth it will be an enormous achievement. And thank you for voting for the Hen Harrier (if you did) and good luck to all the species: Robin, Blackbird, Barn Owl, Blue Tit, Puffin, Wren, Kingfisher, Mute Swan, Red Kite, Hen Harrier – and that won’t be a million miles from the finishing order I predict.

I always understood the Robin to be our national bird.
Although I wish Henry to do well, it would be an embarrassment if our national bird went extinct.
