Hi Mark, maybe I am a bit slow but wonder what the eight years is and just think it must mean eight years of blogs, have always been amazed right from RSPB days how prolific they are and how they have gained readers.Rosemary made me quite humble by saying you both wondered what had happened some years back when no comment from me and of course I was having a new hip, showed a really caring side from both of you.
Think I have always been addicted to your blog and must try and come on less.Meeting you was a highlight with the bonus that the first person I met at Buxton was Rosemary.
Dennis – many thanks for your kind comments.
The eight years were actually since two Hen Harriers were seen as falling from the air at Dersingham Bog, near Sandringham.
By accident I actually stood where the 2 birds were shot from. The present warden told me of the 4 Marsh Harrier’s that fledged from there this year and a bird was present when I was there. For readers not knowing the area there is an extensive reed bed close to a shooting track which looks over the pools were duck shooting takes place. This is ideal for winter roosting of both harrier species. I would encourage people to go in the evening to watch the roost to see how many birds come in.
I should have said ‘from the public path on the reserve!
