Looks like a headless chicken and probably committed suicide at the way the RSPB are now more interested in their anti shooting stance than actually trying to save certain species that are in serious decline due to factors that they sweep under the carpet.RIP chicken,hopefully you are now a martyr to all the poor birds.

Chicken is probably right. To spekum truth: RSPB are concerned with grouse shooting like me, who is a member, because it exterminates certain birds, especially you know what, and by the way, your appellation is totally inappropriate. They sweep nothing under the carpet. All bird species are noted.

Cause of death – it found itself at the wrong end of Rob Titchener’s stick?
I’m not quite sure as to cause of death but I am going to stick my neck out here and say its a pheasant. The proportions are wrong for most commercially produced domestic fowl.
Top marks. I was put off by the lack of lead shot. I assumed Mark hadn’t been collecting road kill as it was well butchered.
A Pheasent that has died of natural causes brought on by head butting a volley of lead!
