If these kids are to see Hen Harriers in the English uplands then we need a better plan than that of the hapless Defra.
And we do…
…here it is…

The petition appears to have closed around midnight Wednesday Mark, it’s certainly shut as I write this at 01.59am Thursday.
No, it’s been pushed up one from 33,364
Perhaps you’re on ‘the establishment’s’ black list Jim 😉
To re-iterate that all concerned are to be heartily congratulated whatever the final count & here’s to the next chapter in the campaign chronology …. bring it on!
Being on someone’s blacklist was probably always going to be my fate Nimby. Might as well be the establishment’s, an honor I would wear with pride!
Terrific picture.
‘I don’t know what they do to the enemy, but they certainly frighten me’ – Duke of Wellington on his troops.
Mark, whatever the final count you deserve congratulations on keeping this problem in the mind of those who have the power to do something about it.
Thank goodness we have several individuals and some smaller organisations working their socks off on behalf of Hen Harriers.
I am amazed at the effort, time, tenacity and knowledge you all put in.
Well done to all of you.
ban grouse shooting now !!!!
Whatever is in place to safeguard our raptors and wildlife is clearly not working as it should so. We frequently read of raptors and other animals being poisoned, shot or trapped by gamekeepers, hunts ot shoots in order to ‘protect’ their ‘investments’. We must do something more to strengthen any acts that are currently in place or else we shall lose far too many species of our wonderful wildlife that others consider as vermin.
All hunting should be banned.
Sadly I doubt in will result in significant progress in the short term…. but as others have said it keeps the profile high and takes us one more step down the road. Start it again in May and the maybe we can get 60k for the 12th.
Mark’s (and others) campaign has certainly raised awareness of the issues and this is building all the time. Especially, now people see it as a wider environmental problem than just birds of prey that, unfortunately, a lot of people aren’t interested in. If Mark still has any energy left to spearhead this, we all need to keep the momentum going.
But kudos to Mark. A great effort.
