Yesterday we passed another major milestone – 45,000 signatures. Our e-petition has plenty of momentum. In May we passed 34k, 35k, 36k, 37k and 38k signatures, but already in June we have passed 39k, 40k, 41k, 42k, 43k, 44k and 45k – how much further can we get before the end of this month?
And the map of signatures (England above but see here) continues to show growing support in rural areas of the country, and in all areas where driven grouse shooting is a major land use. You can see that it isn’t the townies in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and the northeast who are giving our e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting the most support – it’s rural communities. When we find a way to unlock more support from the urban masses then we are made!
Let’s just take a quick closer look at the success of this e-petition in the constituencies of the political parties with fewer seats in the Westminster parliament.
The benchmark for average support is c69 signatures right now, so how do Lib Dem, Green and UKIP seats perform?:
North Norfolk Rt Hon Norman Lamb MP 177
Brighton, Pavilion Caroline Lucas MP 165
Westmorland and Lonsdale Tim Farron MP 149
Sheffield, Hallam Rt Hon Nick Clegg MP 134
Ceredigion Marlk Williams MP 113
Leeds North West Greg Mulholland MP 100
Orkney and Shetland Alistair Carmichael MP 90
Southport John Pugh MP 69
Clacton Mr Douglas Carswell MP 51
Carshalton and Wallington Hon Tom Brake MP 42
Answer – very well!
