Here’s a slightly different way of looking at the results so far. We need to get the average (mean) constituency across the whole UK to 154 votes by midnight (I think) on 20 September to get to 100,000 signatures and trigger a debate on the future of driven grouse shooting.
Some constituencies are leading the way – notably the flood-struck constituency of the Calder Valley which sits below Walshaw (grouse) Moor. Calder Valley, and others, are way past the 154 signatures mark already which makes it easier to cope with those constituencies which are at the bottom of the signature league (notably those in Northern Ireland and in many urban areas (particularly in the West Midlands). Thanks to the Calder Valley, already there could be a constituency from which no signatures at all come to our e-petition and the Calder Valley residents have bumped up the average sufficiently to cope. All I’m saying is that there are some high-signing areas that at least compensate for some low-signing areas.
Because 154 by 20 September is an important number for us, I am showing you how many constituencies have already crossed that line with almost two months still to go – it’s more than 50 constituencies.
Here is a list of those already across the line, with how far over the line they already are (roughly – it keeps changing), and a list of constituencies which have already passed 100 signatures (now sorted by political party).

Scotland seems to have pretty much ground to a halt – after leading the way.
Northern diver – I certainly wouldn’t say ‘ground to a halt’. Maybe ‘taking a breather’? School holidays start earlier in Scotland too, remember.
2 or 3 symapathetic falconers spreading he word as they do flying displays, exhibitions etc across the West Midlands might get signatures up a bit there. Bloody irritating to see this block of constituencies that are well behind even some urban areas such as Edinburgh. I’m hoping to set up one session at least working with a falconer before the petition closes – fingers crossed will see what happens.
