Here is the latest Chris Packham video on driven grouse shooting. Oh yes – there are more to come.
Please sign the e-petition to ban driven grouse shooting which passed 119,000 signatures today. Next week we will hear when the expected parliamentary debate on this subject will take place.

This government is full of landowners and the fox hunting brigade(Leadsom) who will fight tooth and nail to preserve their hold on the countryside.
Oliver – not as full as it used to be – but we, the people, outnumber them a thousand-fold, and are in charge. We are in charge provided we behave as though we are, and not as though they are.
Yes, very good. Maybe the RSPB will mobilise the 881,000 voices for nature that have yet to sign? If not maybe withdraw funding!
Fight Dirty, not so much a name as a suggestion.
So the next video will add the fact that Mountain Hares are a major food of Golden Eagle and by taking away this food the only other food left on a Red Grouse moor is Red Grouse itself! So then surprise, surprise they then want to remove the Golden Eagle! And remember the grit trays are no longer in use as a new disease is now being confirmed from the grit trays themselves. Something about too many Red Grouse coming to the same area just like a bird table in your garden!
Yes bulgy eye disease, despite that many moors have this disease grit trays are still in use here in the Dales where the video was filmed. There are other problems with medicated grit grouse spread it around the tray and the drug seeps into the peat probably killing lots of invertebrates. Some think this may be a factor in Meadow Pipit declines. You cannot tell whether grit is medicated or not so are grouse still full of the drug when shot? They’re not supposed to be but who knows are they tested? I rather doubt it, another good reason to avoid eating grouse.
Another excellent video from Chris P which shows why the ‘other side’ hate/fear him so much. Pretty damning wasn’t it, wouldn’t like to be Tim Bonner, Amanda Anderson, Duncan Thomas etc and try to justify grit trays or mountain hare slaughter. Also worth remembering that on some of the Scottish grouse moors they are deliberately excluding red deer as they are a potential source of ticks. This is the same red deer the same fraternity say are being ‘verminised’ by conservationists because they want numbers reduced to allow some forest to grow back, and we need red deer so all those tourists can take lovely pictures of stags silhouetted on mountain skylines – grouse moors are different though. Just hope there’s a forthcoming video on the claims that DGS is vital to rural communities, that shows it isn’t and is holding back better options for jobs and wildlife. Well done Chris!
Interesting to read these comments about all the medication these ‘wild’ birds receive. I was given the advice, as an equine owner, that it would be a good idea to worm my animals when it is frosty, so that the dung beetles are not killed.
We need more scientific information to confirm what contaminants shot red grouse contain. I hope Mark is planning to get some red grouse thoroughly tested. We have to have our thoughts confirmed by scientists evidence, this is the only way we will make any progress.
