Tim writes: Walruses spend quite a lot of their time loafing around on the beach together, especially the males. We were watching one such inanimate group when a few decided to take a swim. They then became curious about who was on the beach watching them. I lay flat by the water’s edge and waited for them to approach me. I took this with a wide angle (18mm) to try and capture the beach and the sky as well as the Walruses. This lens makes them look a little distant yet the nearest was only about 2m away. I had to use a small aperture to ensure everything was in focus. They were photographed at Sorgfjord in the far north of Spitzbergen.
