Would the ‘dislikers’ care to comment on why they dislike this post?
You would be inhuman if you di,nt like it. Or a shooter. Same thing really.
Magnificent! I wonder how many will breed this year in England?
I love ’em!
Saw 2 males on Mull last week along with lots of females but no 1st winter except for Wendy! Fewer birds at Langholm this winter I have heard!
Spending many an hour logging HHs particularly at the moment. Absolutely magical experiences – one of the best was when ‘Henry’ tried to relieve a Shortie of its lunch!
Have to confess I ponder if our regulars (down on previous years) will survive any breeding attempts on upland peat (grouse) moors?

I think the dislikers are slightly outnumbered.
But perhaps one or two, or all of the dislikers are persecutors of Hen Harriers, meaning a tiny minority are having a major impact on the majority.
We saw a beautiful male on the 5th Feb at Wicken Fen, along with 4 short eared owls. Fabulous!!
I suggest the dislikers crawl away back under their stones and preferably don’t bother to come back!!
126 likes vs 4 dislikes which inclines me to conclude that just over 3% of the readers of this blog are gamekeepers, shooters et al. I’d imagine that nobody is surprised whatsoever that none of them have taken up Andy Holden’s challenge.
The only thing I don’t like about it is the fact I’ll probably never see one again, all that hassle to kill and then cover up that killing, you’d think some would have better things to do.
Bamboo, the rate last years birds are going down at I wouldn’t hold my breath.
The one safe bastion, FC land on the border in Northumberland, is limited – after all we were about planting as much as possible with trees.
There is positively nothing to dislike about a beautiful picture of a beautiful bird.
