Simply marvelous what wonderful birds I remember watching Montagu’s, Pallid and Marsh Harriers all hunting together over wet grassland in autumn in Bulgaria some years ago.
All of course in great contrast to what happens here.
Bowland is having a “vole plague” where the little harrier food packets are everywhere yet the male Pallid Harrier there disappeared/ left as did the two pairs of harriers seen on one day by Bowland Raptor group volunteers. One might ask why they would leave when all that easily caught food was running around?
Is it coincidence I wonder that they disappeared at about the time the grouse chicks were hatching, mmmm, I think that is extremely suspicious don’t you?
If only our landowners were not so keen on killing everything all the time, we are missing such beauty in our lives, and we should be protecting not persecuting
