This is a female Amur Falcon.
This is an incredible small raptor which breeds in southern Russia and migrates to Africa, and a huge congregation of these raptors is found in Nagaland, India on their migration route. From here they travel on their way across the Indian peninsula to Africa the wintering grounds.
One of these migrant females decided to stay at one of the water bodies in Pune, India for a week and I was lucky to spot and photograph her during that period. Such a small raptor undertaking a huge migration.
Photographs were made with a Canon 5D MIII and Canon 500 mm F4 L IS II.
