  1. As far as I understand it, the break of slope is the most important place for slowing the flow of water off a moor. It is in this zone that rough, dense vegetation (mosses, heathers, trees and shrubs) is most valuable in slowing the rate that water comes off the plateau.

  2. As Walshaw Estate has not signed up to Natural England’s voluntary no burning policy,we expect to see more of this. The good news is a lot more people are keeping an eye on what is happening on the Walshaw Estate.
