I’ll be in London tomorrow for a workshop of World Land Trust trustees and supporters so I thought I ought to urge you to support this appeal please.
World Land Trust does a great job (I am slightly biased as a trustee, but also well-informed) and occupies a unique niche in raising money for land protection outside the UK. WLT works with partner organisations primarily in South and Central America, Asia and Africa. A lot of the work goes on in South America where there are good partners, reasonably secure political, financial and legal systems and some great areas of high conservation importance which can still be acquired and protected.
I think of WLT as being a bit like a very good centre-back in rugby: taking the ball in a sticky position in their own half (finding a conservation issue), making a lot of ground through quick feet and quick thinking (fund raising like this appeal) and then making the perfect pass to a winger (the local partner) to run on to success and glory. Well, it is the 6-Nations time of year.
Please cheer on the World Land Trust by donating to their land appeal that will help many species including the stunning Blue-throated Hillstar.
