Of course I have signed the petition. Personally I hope she does go over the precipice. It would be better for this country as a whole and better for wiildelfe.
I too have signed the petition! Over 20 years ago whilst in Hereford, where I was a working I was canvassed by a person ( for want of a better phrase) for UKIP. I told said person that as my partner was born in Germany and many of my holidays were spent in Sweden, where I had a number of friends I found his xenophobic stance a bloody insult to all I stood for. Now it seems that the Xenophobes, populist opportunists and petty right wing nationalists lied and lied and cheated their way to a referendum victory, just. An opportunity given them by a clueless Tory PM ( our worst ever Cameron?) to buy off his own right wing during a general election campaign– he then fucked off, the bastard, to right his memoirs in his shepherds hut FFS. Clueless Theresa ( as bad, if not worse than Cameron or if any remember him Alec Douglas-Hume) has led us to the edge of a precipice on the road to Brexit which will always be bad for business, bad for opportunity for our youngsters, bad for investment, bad for staffing in the NHS, bad for the environment and half of us abhor. Clueless barely covers it, we need a second chance at sanity within the EU our best ever club membership. If that means she and her government of incompetents goes to oblivion can they please take the bloody ERG loonies and that twat Farage with them and shut the door behind them!
Damn right, Paul! All the fascist kippers who’ve knocked on my door have been chased off with a round of f**ks.
What I didn’t write in the above Coop was that the UKIP canvasser stood in my way after I thought we had finished. So I pointed out to him that I suffered from a terrible nervous affliction. Of course he asked what it was? I told him it was in my legs and that if he didn’t get out of my way there was a serious danger that my right knee would make involuntary sudden and rapid contact with his testicles, which he would doubtless find extremely painful. He got the point and allowed me to pass.
Indeed, Paul. Every decent person should stand against these little Hitlers, who tarnish the memory of all those who fought against such vile ideas in WW2. And they have the nerve (like all fascists) to call themselves patriots, when, in fact, every damn one of them would’ve been more suited to the Britisches Freikorps.
Splendid comments Paul – but don’t hold back next time. I too have signed the petition and, like Tony Blair, was at the march in spirit. Corbyn was up north I think, doing something else.
You may be being a bit unfair to Alec D-H though. At school, I wrote an essay arguing he was the best man for the job when it fell vacant. I was wrong obviously. He was a man out of his time but he was a man with principles I think, which is more than you can say for many of the present lot.
Get a grip on reality Theresa
My wife and I, together with daughter and one grandson, joined the London march for a people’s vote on Saturday. There were many groups of three and some of four generations. It was a determined but peaceful and good-humoured gathering of over one million. The Government ignore us at their peril.
.
Richard – well done to all.
Absolutely, Richard. My wife, son and I also attended the march (18 hours door to door from Swansea) and what a fantastic, inspiring experience it was! The wit and humour of the placards and banners, the wonderful bands, the colour of all the flags and the warmth generosity and openness of all the marchers so at odds with the mean narrowness of the UKIP/ERG mindset. A multitude, unrepresented by the leaders of either of the two main political parties, out there in support of an ideal. It was both moving and amazing. And I cannot believe that we don’t better represent the people of our various nations than UKIP and the ERG do. ‘Fromage not Farage’ as one of the many self-deprecating placards said.
Whatever happens next we have had our say!
Well done Richard, I was on the anti Iraq war march of similar size, The government of the day ignored us, I suspect this ramshackle government on its last legs, at least with TT in charge, will ignore both the march and the millions who have signed the petition. They only seem to like true democracy when it suits them or they have to.
