I’ll be heading in to Northampton on the bus. I doubt that the crowd will be quite as big as that pictured above but we’ll see…
Climate Strike
Start: Friday, September 20, 2019 12:00 PM
BBC Radio Northampton
BBC Radio Northampton, Abington St, NN1 2BH Northampton, Northamptonshire

There’s a few more things to remember:
1. Take an alarm clock with you. A wind-up one is ideal but you can also use your phone alarm. Everyone at strikes around the country will be sounding their alarms at 1pm for two minutes, to wake the government up to the climate crisis.
2. Share your content on social media using #ClimateStrike, and please share it with us as well! We’ll be able to share it even further, and possibly include your shots in our videos.
Watch this quick guide on what we’re looking for and how to get it to us.
3. This one’s the most important. You’ll be among people who are all demanding a safer, cleaner world for everyone. Here’s what we’re asking the Government to do:
- Declare a climate emergency and implement a green new deal to provide jobs and protect the climate
- Communicate the severity of the crisis and the need to act now
- Reform the national curriculum so the environmental crisis becomes an educational priority
- Recognise that young people have the biggest stake in our future by incorporating youth views in to policies and reducing the voting age to 16
Our placard is made and the bus awaits. We’re off to Oxford. Thanks for the Alarm Clock tip, reminds me of all those skylarks in London!
