Gorillas

On Sunday evening you may have seen David Attenborough and Mountain Gorillas back in 1978 – it seems like yesterday! And the message of Sunday’s programme was that we can make a difference if we actually do the right things.

The World Land Trust (of which I am the Chair of Trustees), is working with in-country partners across the globe and by chance, our current appeal, is about Lowland Gorillas in Cameroon.

The World Land Trust is raising funds to create an additional safe corridor for Gorillas, Chimps, African Forest Elephants, two pangolin species and a whole range of other species to move safely through the forest and from forest block to forest block – see here.

It’s a good project and will help to conserve some of the most iconic species in Africa, indeed on Earth.

Sir David, who is a Patron of the World Land Trust, said at the end of his programme

I truly believe that together we can create a better future.

What happens next is up to every one of us.

There are many good conservation causes out there, but I recommend that you think of making a one-off donation to the World Land Trust’s Gorilla Appeal, or even, if you can, becoming one of our regular donors. Thank you.
