What are the odds?

I’m a fan of Ed Balls – I had a bit to do with him in the distant past when he was Gordon Brown’s SpAd in the Treasury and use to hold regular meetings with a bunch of NGOs, and through the time when he was an MP and a minister.

I also reviewed his book here (somewhat randomly!), enjoyed his TV series about Trump’s USA and on trade, and I enjoyed watching him on Strictly and last week on the Celebrity Best Home Cook which (spoiler alert) he won!

He’s a great role model for the tubby male. And he has a sharp brain but self-evidently doesn’t take himself too seriously.

What are the chances that he might come back into politics one day? Personally, although I don’t necessarily think that being on Strictly is a necessary qualification for electoral success, nor do I think it would do him any harm at all. I think he would come back into politics, having knocked around the world a bit, a more rounded (not a reference to his tummy) figure.

i wonder…

  1. Wasn’t HS2 originally his idea? As a fellow human I like him as a politician far too far to the right within Labour.

  2. I seem to remember house “flipping” x 3 and expenses claims without receipts. Seems to like filling his pockets rather too much for my liking. But then honesty and politics are not often bedfellows.
