Book review – Natures Wonder’s by Jane V. Adams

This book will sit snugly in many National Trust shops. It takes you through the seasons and points you towards things you should see, hear, smell and feel. Almost the first thing to look for is your first Brimstone butterfly – I’ve seen a few in the last 10 days so it must be early spring.

The photographs of insects, fungi, birds, mammals and more are of high quality and add to the value of the book. The words are by Jane V. Adams, who has written a long series of guest blogs for this blog (see here).

The book invites you to ‘Revive your childlike curiosity and welcome the wonder of nature back into your life’ and although that sounds a bit twee, actually, we could all benefit from that. I will try to lie down in a Bluebell wood and smell the flowers in a few months time – it’ll be getting up that takes more effort.

If you know folk who are teetering on the brink of an interest in wildlife this book might get them to take a leap into the delights that nature can provide.

The cover? Cute! I’d give it a 7/10.

Nature’s Wonders: moments that mark the seasons by Jane V. Adams is published by The National Trust although I fail to find it on the National Trust website or shop website (might be there though, I admit) so you might try this link instead.

My forthcoming book, Reflections, will be published on 4 July and already can be ordered.
