The government’s plan to meet the 30×30 commitment relies, in no small part, on the commitment of landowners – there is no compulsion. Just hope. If the Church of England, one the biggest landowners in England, isn’t prepared to volunteer to meet any part of that commitment, then the prospects of other landowners (many of whom are subject to a lot less scrutiny than the CoE) falling into line seem to me to be very thin indeed.
