I have been doing even more talking than usual recently! I’ve talked at my former school (Bristol Grammar), at a debate on pandas at the Linnaean Society, to a bunch of young conservationists at Cambridge University and on Radio 4’s Saving Species programme on raptors.
Tomorrow I am RSPB Leighton Moss talking (1100-1200) about nature conservation and signing any copies of Fighting for Birds you would like to buy.
Sunday is the same talk at another RSPB nature reserve – Old Moor (1400-1500). I’m looking forward to both.
Next weekend it is Cley Norfolk Wildlife Trust (1000-1200) for a book signing in the morning and RSPB Titchwell (1300-1500) in the afternoon – I hope I can fit some birds in too!
Fighting for Birds has got some excellent reviews along the way and if these don’t persuade you to buy the book for yourself or all your friends who love nature then nothing will: Peter Marren, Chris Packham and Martin Harper.
On Amazon Fighting for Birds has attracted 12 5-star reviews and has reached the number 1 best-seller in the wildlife conservation section (temporarily). And it was the 7,712th best-selling book on Amazon for a while – heady heights!

Congratulations Mark.
I had my copy of “Fighting for Birds” for my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed it – learned a fair bit too. I didn’t review it on Amazon but I gave it a very positive mention on BirdForum
I would like to have read it cover to cover without putting it down but didn’t have the staying power; Chris Packham must have had a good supply of strong coffee on tap to manage that!
Hope you sell plenty more and roll on the sequel!
Tony – many thanks indeed. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
I’ll ask again, any chance of an audio book? If so pick very carefully who “reads it”, can make or break a book. Will increase sells Mark!
Off topic, did anyone else receive an email off the government today regarding the e-petition and VL?
Douglas – no plans so far on an audiobook.
Yes, I got mine too – see Sunday’s blog.
Douglas – yes, rec’d email.
I’ve seen it too; look forward to your blog on Sunday!
