I have just (17:19) received this email:
Dear Dr Mark Avery,
Unfortunately we’ve had to bring forward the closing date of your petition Ban driven grouse shooting from 28 May 2015 to 30 March 2015
The dissolution of this Parliament has now been scheduled for 30 March 2015, and it’s not possible for petitions to remain open once Parliament has been dissolved.
I’m sorry you won’t have as long to collect signatures as you expected. If you have any questions about this change, please contact us at https://submissions.epetitions.direct.gov.uk/feedback
(Please don’t reply to this message as it’s not an email address we monitor)
Thanks,
HM Government e-petitions http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/
I’ve been robbed because the Government forgot there might well be a general election.
Never mind, we’ll cope.
This e-petition is already the 21st most successful referring to Defra ever – although most of the others ran for 12 months rather than two months so far (and apparently 10 months in all).
Please sign now as time is running out…

Crikey,
That means that the very worthy e-petition:
‘Hen Harrier Joint Recovery Plan – Publish It’ http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/6752 will only have 8 and a half months in total to gather signatures……
Might the Govt accept pro-rata additions to it Mark, perhaps the number per month for those lost (so the two missing months at the end have the first two months worth collected added, or even a monthly average? HM Govt. / civil servants failed to alert people to this in the bracket where this would kick in so in order to mitigate (ha)?
As you say, we’ll cope.
Mark,
Apologies, my link to:
‘Hen Harrier Joint Recovery Plan – Publish It’ – http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/67527 – has become corrupted, finger trouble clearly, no other explanation.
Here it is again, tried and tested this time.
Keith – it will. Totally pointless as it is.
